The Change of Guard

Surf | Coffee | Jitz

Swapping ‘hats’.

I love competing at our National Tournament, I enjoy representing WA, my team and competing against my fellow Machado BJJ Black Belts. It’s a high light of my year, leading my team and representing WA!

.

However, it’s time for me to step aside and allow my next generation of ‘leaders’ to show the way. They stepped up, conquered and I couldn’t be any prouder of them all.

.

It’s a strange feeling watching from the side when it’s usually myself out there. Maybe a touch of jealousy, envy but most of all PRIDE.

.

This year I’ve taken on the role of running ‘The Gathering’ for our Machado Australasia Team. Building it from scratch and moving it to a much more modern system. It was a huge challenge with everything else that was going on in our lives, however i had committed to this task.

.

The tournament ran smoothly, everyone had a great time and John got to relax a bit more.

.

My boys were treated like BJJ royalty and were spoilt by sitting with Rigan and John in the kids group photo. Something that I don’t think they will understand the importance of for many years to come.

.

Time for me to step aside and allow the growth of AMMA to represent!
